About Our Founder

Lisa Bender

She founded Spine Stretch Studio in 2002, focusing on the core services of Massage Therapy and STOTT PILATES®. Members soon started spreading word of the benefits they were enjoying at Lisa’s hands with these two disciplines, and the practice quickly grew.

Identifying an opportunity to grow and to help even more people achieve greater health, Lisa expanded her business. A move to a larger facility saw Spine Stretch transition into a fully equipped Pilates studio and wellness centre. With more space, Lisa was able to add more holistic practitioners to her practice. Clients were soon able to experience even greater health benefits through the complementary practices of Naturopathy, Acupuncture, and Infrared Sauna Therapy.

As the practice grew and thrived (Spine Stretch was named Business of the Year by the Aurora Chamber of Commerce in 2009), so did Lisa’s passion for movement therapy. In 2015, she graduated at the top of her class from Southern Ontario College of Osteopathy with an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner diploma. She became a certified Holistic Lifestyle Coach through CHEK Institute in 2016.

Lisa’s current area of study is the human brain and how it relates to our overall health. She is studying functional neurology with Dr. Brandon Brock, a leading authority in this discipline.

Lisa’s mission is to empower, educate, and create passion for the process of healing and feeling one’s best. She wishes for all her clients to achieve optimal health through intelligent movement.
